Vishwakarma Puja
Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated on Kanya Sankranti, marking the transition of the Sun into Virgo. It is dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman of the universe.
The festival honors the creator of weapons, palaces, and chariots for the gods. It is observed primarily by artisans, mechanics, smiths, welders, and factory workers to seek blessings for excellence in their trade, safety at work, and the smooth functioning of machinery.
1. Worship of Tools: Tools, machines, and vehicles are cleaned, adorned with vermilion and garlands, and placed before the deity. 2. Idol Worship: Setting up idols or pictures of Lord Vishwakarma holding his tools. 3. No Work Day: Artisans refrain from using their tools on this day as a mark of respect. 4. Prasad Distribution: Distributing sweets and sharing a community meal (Bhandara) after the puja.
