Date
Vamana Jayanti
According to the Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Vamana manifested on Bhadrapada Shukla Dwadashi precisely at midday during the highly auspicious Abhijit Muhurat.
Lord Vamana appeared as a dwarf brahmana to restore cosmic order and humble King Bali. The observance day is the civil date on which Shukla Dwadashi overlaps the local Abhijit window; when two consecutive days qualify, the day hosting Shravana nakshatra in Abhijit is preferred, otherwise the day with the greatest Dwadashi presence in that window.
1. Abhijit Puja: Perform the main worship during Abhijit Muhurta (midday). 2. Fasting: Many observe a fast until the Abhijit puja is completed. 3. Donation: Offer food, umbrellas, or dakshina to brahmins and the needy. 4. Reading: Recite the Vamana-lila from the Srimad Bhagavatam and recite Vishnu stotras.
