- Chitra nakshatra is active in the morning; some lineages firmly avoid Chitra for Ghatasthapana and may wait for the Abhijit Muhurta fallback.
- Ghatasthapana must not be done during Amavasya or at night. Always complete it while Shukla Pratipada is prevailing.
About
Sharad Navaratri is the most prominent of all Navaratris, celebrated in the autumn month of Ashwina. It commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura.
Significance:
It represents the triumph of good over evil and the power of the Divine Mother to restore balance in the universe. Each of the nine nights is dedicated to one of the Navadurga forms, symbolizing various aspects of spiritual evolution.
Rituals & Puja Vidhi:
1. Ghatasthapana: The ritual invocation of the Goddess in a Kalash filled with holy water. 2. Navadurga Puja: Daily worship of Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, and other forms with specific offerings. 3. Fasting: Devotees often follow a strict Sattvic diet or fast for nine days. 4. Garba & Dandiya: Joyous community dances that celebrate the creative energy of the Goddess. 5. Vijayadashami: The tenth day marks the culmination with the celebration of victory. Ghatasthapana is done once at the start of the nine nights: use the first-third-of-day or Abhijit window below when Shukla Pratipada is running, before the midpoint of the day, per common prayoga summaries.
