About

Sharad Navaratri is the most prominent of all Navaratris, celebrated in the autumn month of Ashwina. It commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura.

Significance:

It represents the triumph of good over evil and the power of the Divine Mother to restore balance in the universe. Each of the nine nights is dedicated to one of the Navadurga forms, symbolizing various aspects of spiritual evolution.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Ghatasthapana: The ritual invocation of the Goddess in a Kalash filled with holy water. 2. Navadurga Puja: Daily worship of Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, and other forms with specific offerings. 3. Fasting: Devotees often follow a strict Sattvic diet or fast for nine days. 4. Garba & Dandiya: Joyous community dances that celebrate the creative energy of the Goddess. 5. Vijayadashami: The tenth day marks the culmination with the celebration of victory.
