Naraka Chaturdashi, also known as Chhoti Diwali, celebrates the victory of Lord Krishna and his consort Satyabhama over the demon king Narakasura. This victory liberated sixteen thousand women and restored peace to the universe.
The festival symbolises the elimination of laziness and evil from one's life. It is a day of physical and spiritual purification, preparing oneself for the grand celebration of Lakshmi Puja.

Yamadeepam: Lamps are lit to ward off the fear of death and to honor Lord Yama. 3. Puja: Worshipping Lord Krishna and Goddess Kali in some traditions to celebrate the destruction of the demon. 4. Lights: Illuminating the house with small oil lamps to welcome prosperity.
