About

Nagula Chavithi is a significant festival dedicated to the worship of Nagas (serpent gods), observed on the fourth day of the Shukla Paksha in Kartika. It is primarily celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and parts of Karnataka.

Significance:

Serpents are considered sacred in Hindu tradition, associated with Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Worshipping them is believed to protect the family from snake bites and bring fertility and prosperity.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Putta Puja: Devotees visit snake pits to offer milk, eggs, and traditional sweets made of rice flour and jaggery. 2. Deepam: Lighting small lamps near the snake pits as a mark of reverence. 3. Offerings: Applying turmeric and vermilion to the snake pit and offering fresh flowers. 4. Fasting: Many women observe a fast until the completion of the puja.
