About

Naga Panchami is observed on the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha in Shravana. It is a day when living cobras or images of Nagas are worshipped across India.

Significance:

Serpents hold a high position in Hindu mythology, with Ananta Shesha supporting the earth and Vasuki adorning Lord Shiva's neck. Worshipping them is believed to protect the family and ensure the well-being of the land.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Milk Offering: Offering milk and honey to the images or idols of Nagas. 2. Puja: Worshipping the Naga Devatas with flowers, lamps, and incense. 3. Prohibition: Plowing the earth is traditionally avoided on this day to protect the creatures of the soil. 4. Mantra Japa: Chanting the Naga Gayathri or the sacred Om Namah Shivaya.
