Mandala Kala - Pooja
Mandalakala Pooja, or Mandala Pooja, marks the culmination of the 41-day rigorous fasting period (Mandala Vratam) observed by Ayyappa devotees.
This day is highly auspicious at the Sabarimala temple. The completion of the 41-day penance symbolizes the devotee's spiritual readiness. The deity is adorned with the 'Thanka Anki' (sacred golden attire) brought in a grand procession.
1. Irumudi Kettu: Carrying the sacred bundle (Irumudi) containing offerings like ghee-filled coconuts on the head. 2. Neyyabhishekam: The most important offering of bathing the idol with the sacred ghee brought by the devotees. 3. Darshan: Witnessing the grand Mandala Pooja at the shrine. 4. Breaking the Fast: Concluding the strict observances after the successful pilgrimage.
