Kojagara Puja, or Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, is celebrated on the night of Sharad Purnima. The word 'Kojagara' literally means 'who is awake?'.
It is believed that on this night, Goddess Lakshmi descends to Earth to visit every household. She blesses those who are awake and worshipping her with wealth and prosperity. It is a night of high spiritual energy and lunar blessings.
1. Midnight Vigil: Devotees stay awake through the night, performing prayers and singing devotional songs. 2. Lakshmi Puja: Worshipping the Goddess with a focus on her eight forms (Ashta Lakshmi). 3. Offering: Placing rice pudding (Kheer) in the moonlight to absorb 'Amrit' and then consuming it. 4. Charity: Distributing sweets and sharing the festive joy with the community.
