About

Karwa Chauth is a rigorous day-long fast observed by married Hindu women for the longevity, safety, and prosperity of their husbands. It is primarily celebrated in North and West India.

Significance:

The festival symbolises the deep bond of love and commitment between a husband and wife. The 'Karwa' (earthen pot) represents prosperity and the cooling nature of water.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Nirjala Vrat: Women observe a strict fast without water from sunrise until moonrise. 2. Karwa Puja: In the evening, women gather to listen to the Vrat Katha and worship Goddess Parvati. 3. Arghya: The fast is broken after offering 'Arghya' (water offering) to the moon, followed by viewing the husband's face. 4. Sargi: A traditional pre-dawn meal sent by the mother-in-law to the daughter-in-law.
