About

Kajari Teej, also known as Badi Teej, is celebrated on the third day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravana. It is a festival of devotion, joy, and the vibrancy of the monsoon season.

Significance:

The festival commemorates the devotion of Goddess Parvati to Lord Shiva. Married women observe this fast for the long life and prosperity of their husbands, while unmarried girls pray for a virtuous life partner. It also celebrates the arrival of the monsoon and its blessings for agriculture.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Fasting: Women observe a strict day-long fast, often without water (Nirjala). 2. Gauri-Shiva Puja: Worshipping idols of Shiva and Parvati with flowers, sweets, and sacred threads. 3. Moon Worship: Breaking the fast in the evening after offering Arghya (water) to the moon. 4. Traditional Customs: Singing Kajari folk songs, using decorated swings, and applying Mehendi.
