About

Govatsa Dwadashi, also known as Vasu Baras, is celebrated on the twelfth day of the Krishna Paksha in Aswayuja. It honors the sacred bond between humans and cattle.

Significance:

Cows are revered as the 'Gau Mata' or the universal mother in Hindu culture. This day celebrates their role in providing nourishment and sustaining life. It is believed that worshipping cows on this day brings prosperity and the blessings of all the gods who reside within them.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Cow Worship: Bathing and decorating cows and their calves with vermilion and garlands. 2. Offering: Giving sprouted grains (Moong) and special sweets to the cows. 3. Dietary Restriction: Devotees traditionally avoid consuming cow's milk and wheat products on this day. 4. Lighting Lamps: Lighting lamps in the cattle shed (Gaushala) to seek divine protection for the herd.
