About

Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatrayodashi, marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festival. It is the day when Lord Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods and the father of Ayurveda, emerged from the Churning of the Ocean.

Significance:

It is a day dedicated to health, wealth, and prosperity. Devotees pray for the well-being of their families and seek protection from untimely death.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Purchases: Buying gold, silver, or new utensils is considered highly auspicious as a symbol of welcoming Lakshmi. 2. Dhanvantari Puja: Worshipping the Lord of Ayurveda with fresh herbs and lamps. 3. Yamadeepam: Lighting a lamp outside the house facing south to please Yamaraj, the God of Death. 4. Lakshmi-Ganesha Puja: Cleaning the house and performing evening prayers to welcome the divine presence.
