About

Chopda Puja is a special ceremony performed by business communities, particularly in Gujarat and Rajasthan, during Diwali to inaugurate new account books (Chopda) for the upcoming financial year.

Significance:

It marks the closing of old accounts and the beginning of new ones with the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. It is believed to bring profitability, financial stability, and ethical success in business ventures.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Swastik: Drawing a Swastik with vermilion (Kumkum) and writing 'Shubh Labh' on the new ledgers. 2. Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja: Invoking Lord Ganesha for a smooth start and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth. 3. Offering: Placing flowers, sweets, and silver coins on the books. 4. First Entry: Making the first auspicious entry (often 'Shri') in the new ledger during the Diwali Puja Muhurat.
