Atla Taddi is a unique festival celebrated by women in Andhra Pradesh. It falls on the third day of the Krishna Paksha in Aswayuja.
Married women observe this fast for the health and longevity of their husbands, while young girls pray for a virtuous life partner. It celebrates the arrival of the spring-like joy and the bonds of family.
1. Suddi: Having a pre-dawn meal before the fast begins. 2. Fasting: Observing a day-long fast and breaking it only after viewing the moon. 3. Swings: Women enjoy traditional decorated swings (Uyyala) in the evening. 4. Atlu: Preparing miniature dosas (Atlu) and offering them to Goddess Gauri and then sharing with others.
