About

Pakshavardhini Mahadwadashi: When Dwadashi Tithi rules sunrise on the two days following Ekadashi, it forms the sacred Pakshavardhini Mahadwadashi.

Shravana Putrada Ekadashi, as the name 'Putrada' suggests, is the 'giver of sons.' It is traditionally observed by childless couples seeking the blessing of a virtuous child.

Significance:

The Bhavishya Purana narrates the story of King Mahijit of Mahishmati, who was deeply sorrowful because he had no heir. The king approached the great assembly of sages, and Sage Lomasha revealed that in his past life, the king had denied water to a thirsty cow. To counteract this karma, the sage advised the king and queen to observe Shravana Putrada Ekadashi. Their dedicated observance pleased Lord Vishnu, and they were soon blessed with a valiant and righteous son.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Fasting: Couples observe a joint fast from sunrise to sunrise to seek divine blessings for progeny. 2. Vishnu Puja: Elaborate worship of Lord Vishnu and the Bal Gopal (child Krishna) form. 3. Vrat Katha: Reading the story of King Mahijit and chanting the Santana Gopala Mantra. 4. Charity: Donating clothes, fruits, and Dakshina to Vedic priests.
