About

Utpanna Ekadashi marks the divine birth (Utpatti) of Ekadashi Mata, the personification of the Ekadashi fast itself, who emerged from Lord Vishnu's body.

Significance:

In the Bhavishya Purana, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna how a fearsome demon named Mura terrorized the universe. During a fierce battle, Lord Vishnu retreated to a cave in Badrikashrama to rest. Mura followed Him into the cave to kill Him while He slept. Suddenly, a radiant and powerful goddess emerged from the Lord's body and effortlessly slew the demon. Waking up, the pleased Lord named her 'Ekadashi' and granted her the boon that anyone who observes her fast would be freed from all sins and attain Vaikuntha.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Fasting: Observing a strict fast as a mark of gratitude to Ekadashi Mata. 2. Vishnu Puja: Worshipping Lord Vishnu and Mother Ekadashi together. 3. Vrat Katha: Reading the story of the defeat of Mura. 4. Charity: Distributing food to the poor and seeking blessings from elders.
