About

Masika Skanda Shashti is a monthly festival dedicated to Lord Murugan, also known as Skanda, Kartikeya, or Subrahmanya, the commander-in-chief of the celestial army. It is observed on the sixth day of the Shukla Paksha every month.

Significance:

Lord Murugan is the destroyer of the demon Surapadman and the embodiment of wisdom and courage. This monthly observance is a time to seek his blessings for victory over inner and outer enemies. It is particularly significant for those seeking protection and mental clarity.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Abhishekam: Performing a ritual bath for the deity with milk, panchamrita, and holy ash. 2. Recitation: Reciting the Skanda Sashti Kavasam or other hymns dedicated to Murugan. 3. Fasting: Observing a fast from sunrise until the completion of the evening puja. 4. Vel Worship: Worshipping the 'Vel' (divine spear) which symbolizes sharp intellect.
