About

Unmilani Mahadwadashi: When Ekadashi Tithi rules sunrise on two consecutive days, it forms the sacred Unmilani Mahadwadashi.

Parsva Ekadashi, also known as Parivartini or Vamana Ekadashi, marks the day when Lord Vishnu, resting during Chaturmas, turns from His left side to His right side (Parsva Parivartan).

Significance:

The Brahma Vaivarta Purana states that worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day is equivalent to the merit of performing a Vajapeya sacrifice. This day is also deeply connected to the Vamana Avatar. It commemorates the moment Lord Vamana measured the universe and pushed King Bali into the netherworld (Patala), later blessing him by standing as his eternal guard. Devotees celebrate the Lord's compassionate turning towards His devotees.

Rituals & Puja Vidhi:

1. Fasting: Devotees observe a strict fast to honor the Lord's cosmic slumber. 2. Vamana Puja: Worshipping the Vamana form of Vishnu with curd, rice, and yellow flowers. 3. Recitation: Reading the story of King Bali and Lord Vamana. 4. Parana: Breaking the fast on Dwadashi after making offerings to a Brahmin.
